I don't know the history of product cross-promotions, but Royal Crown was doing LOTS of it in the 1960s... with radio programs, national jewelers, etc.
And they also seemed to have, by the mid-60s, expanded their product line beyond just hair dressing to include relaxers and shaving powder.
