Dresses, Pyrex, and Antique Malls

Lots to report!

There are two 1960s new dresses in the b.vikki vintage Etsy shop:

The first is a late 1960s, pale pink, embroidered, high collared, a-line dress with floral embroidery, sequins on collar, cuff, waist, and center of bust. Very mod.

Tag reads Toni Todd.

Bust: 37"
Waist: 29"
Hips: 41"
Length: 36"

Turquoise mod shift scooter mini dress with aqua and teal flower power neckline and sleeve appliqués.

Bust: 36.5"
Waist: 35"
Hips: 39"
Length: 33.5"

My mom and sister visited my aunt in Michigan over the holiday weekend and if I'd known they'd stop at an antiques mall, I'd have gone with them! But, they did take great pictures and bring me back three Butterfly Gold Pyrex serving bowls and farm fresh fruit.

And here are the pictures of things they thought I'd like (they were right!), but didn't buy.

I never actually sold the Pyrex pieces I bought last year because I thought I might want to build my Spring Blossom/Crazy Daisy collection, but I've decided against it. They'll be on Etsy soon. Instead, I'll keep a keen eye out for rarer patterns. I seem to stumble upon Woodland and Spring Blossom pieces EVERYWHERE these days!

More Family Pictures

Here's a photograph from what I believe to be the late 1940s of my great grandfather, Fredrick O'Neal Sr. His wife, my great grandmother, Essie O'Neal, is pictured with her brother, Norris Reed in the sidebar of b.vikki vintage.

I've posted this picture before - of my grandfather, Fredrick O'Neal Jr (Essie and Fred O'Neal Sr.'s first son) at 16 years old - from the early 1960s.

And my father is Fredrick O'Neal III.

Here he is at prom in 1985.

Here he is again in the mid 1980s.

And these were taken in early 1987, a week or so after I was born.

And here's my mom, Lynette, in the 1970s and 1980s.

Yes, my mom and my dad went on prom together.

Here's my mom in the mid 1980s.

And I love this picture of her from the 70s!

My aunt Felicia, who reads my blog DAILY (and will probably be upset with me for posting this!), is here pictured in 1987 - with me a few weeks after my birth. She's 16 in this picture!

You may remember seeing her featured here before as a b.vikki vintage model:

My dad dropped the first picture off today and I'm so glad he did! Along with it, he's given me a July 1954 issue of Ebony Magazine that can't be found in any online archives, so I'll be posting its articles and pictures in the days and weeks to come.

Here's the cover:

In this issue are some interesting articles about female wrestlers, the best Negro high school in America, "Problems of the new Negro elite", a fascinating piece on Sarah Vaugh, and much more.

And a Pyrex update! My grandmother's Butterfly Gold cereal bowl is broken...
:(
I'm not going to say it's my sister's fault... but I'm not going to say it's NOT her fault.
I kid. It fell out of a cabinet she was opening. And shattered.

R.I.P. Pyrex bowl. Never Forget.

1954 Ebony mag + Pyrex

Don't forget to visit b.vikki vintage on Etsy!

I've got a 1954 issue of Ebony magazine on the way. Turns out my dad has it, it's in really good shape, and originally belonged to my Great Grandfather Joe Petty. The online archives don't go back that far, so I'm excited to get my hands on this rarity!

Whenever it gets here, I'll post all the amazing pictures it's sure to contain!

Also, I was reading the back posts and archives at Thriftaholic and was in awe of the Pyrex kitchenware. I've seen similar peices to the ones posted there at thrift stores so I did a little research on Pyrexlove.com to memorize authentic prints and colorways.

But, to my surprise, once I was done with the research, I walk into my kitchen and what do I see in the dishrack? A Cornell Corningware Pyrex Butterfly Gold cereal bowl. My grandma brought some food over in it and I completely forgot it was here!

She has she might have more pieces with the same print, and I'll definitely keep a keen eye out to complete the set. (pics soon)
